Central Drain ~ 24th Street Crossing

Attention drivers: The Association is currently reconstructing a road crossing of the Central Drain. The work location and road closure is at 24th Street and Avenue D in Yuma. Avenue D is not closed, but 24th Street is closed east of Avenue D.

The existing road crossing has been removed.

Crews set de-watering points within the work area. These allow ground water to be pumped out, allowing proper bedding and compaction for the new pipe.

The original crossing was constructed with metal “tin-horn” piping. It is being replaced with gasketed concrete pipe.

Most work is performed with long-reach tracked excavators.

Crew members connect the piping that is used to join all of the dewatering points to the pump.

Crews place the pump that will be used for removal of groundwater.

Be sure to stay tuned here- as this job progresses, we’ll be updating the photographs! PLEASE be caution in this area, and watch out for our workers. Thank you!
